Obatzda is a Bavarian cheese spread made from ripe Camembert or Brie mixed with butter, paprika, caraway, and sometimes beer or onion.
It has been a staple of Bavarian beer gardens since at least the 1920s. The PGI protecting 'Obatzda' as a Bavarian specialty was granted by the EU in 2015.
