Cookie & Tracking Policy

What we use, and what we don’t
Caseo uses a deliberately small amount of browser storage. There are no advertising cookies, no third-party ad networks, no cross-site tracking pixels, and no session recording. We have never had them and the product rules say we never will.
What is stored
| What | Purpose | Lifetime | Consent? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in session | Keeps you signed in | Session + refresh | No |
| Language preference | Remembers English, Spanish or French | 1 year | No |
| Region | Tells us whether to ask before loading analytics | 30 days | No |
| Your consent choice | Remembers your answer so we stop asking | 6 months | No |
| Onboarding / UI state | Remembers you finished onboarding, dismissed a tip | Varies | No |
| PostHog analytics ID | A pseudonymous id, so we can count people rather than events | 12 months | Yes |
Only the last row needs your permission. The rest are what the site needs to work at all — you cannot stay signed in without a session cookie.
About our analytics
We use PostHogto understand which features people use and where the app is slow or broken. We have turned off the parts we don’t need:
- No autocapture — we record only specific events we chose to record.
- No automatic pageview or page-leave tracking.
- No session recording. We cannot watch a replay of your screen.
What we do record is a named event and a little context: which screen, which feature, device type, app version. Not what you type, not your photos, not the contents of your posts.
Your choice
In the EU, EEA and the UK we ask before loading analytics, and nothing analytics-related runs until you answer. Elsewhere it runs by default and you can turn it off.
Either way you can change your mind at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as giving:
- On the web — and answer again.
- In the app — Settings → Privacy → Analytics.
We honour Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal we treat it as a refusal, everywhere in the world, and we don’t show you the banner at all.
Keeping a record
When you answer, we store the answer, when you gave it, which version of this policy it applied to, and whether it came from the banner or from Settings. The law requires us to be able to demonstrate consent; that record is how. We do not log your IP address or browser for this purpose.
Your browser’s controls
You can block or delete storage in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary items will sign you out and break parts of the app.
In the iOS app
The iOS app is a web app in a native shell, so the same storage applies, held in the app’s own container rather than in Safari. Caseo’s privacy manifest declares no tracking and no tracking domains, and there is no App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to ask about.
