Privacy Policy

Caseo is a cheese discovery app. We collect only what we need to run your account, power the features you use, and improve the app. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show third-party advertising.

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and the username, and any optional profile details you add (display name, bio, avatar photo).

Content you create.Photos, posts, ratings, reviews, tasting boards, and your saved (“To Try”) list. You choose what to share; public posts are visible to other users.

Scan images.When you identify a cheese, the photo is sent to our service for recognition. We use it to return a match and improve identification; we don’t use it to identify you.

Device & usage data. Basic app analytics (screens viewed, features used, device type, app version) to understand and improve the product. If you enable notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can deliver them.

Payment information (businesses only). If you purchase a business subscription, payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.

• Provide and maintain your account and the app’s features.
• Identify cheeses, generate pairings, and personalize your experience.
• Send notifications you’ve opted into, and transactional emails (e.g. sign-in, account).
• Understand usage and improve performance, reliability, and design.
• Keep the community safe and enforce our terms.

We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
• Stripe — payment processing (business subscriptions).
• PostHog — product analytics.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Apple Push Notification service — delivering notifications to your device.

We do not sell personal data. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

• Edit your profile or delete content at any time in the app.
• Turn notifications on or off in your device settings.
• Request a copy of your data, or deletion of your account, by emailing us (below).

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where we must retain it for legal or security reasons.

Caseo is intended for users 17 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information.

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
